"I met Dr. Bambach in Boston at Emerson College on my road to directing the National Center for Women in the Arts at Emerson. The College was looking for leading the college in new directions at that time. Michael was hired as an Educational Consultant to research and develop a prototype curriculum for an MBA in Arts Management and Administration. I was a member of the MBA - AMA Team, as we called it. He reported directly to the President.
Michael was exacting and thorough in the research that led to the conceptualization and design of the prototype. He created a detailed knowledge-and-skills matrix drawn from an analysis of the twenty five existing programs that he visited throughout the United States. He strategically integrated that data with the results of a well-drawn environmental scan. It was a solid school-to-career approach. Michael left no stone unturned as he wrestled with complex concepts and integrated them into the curriculum. The program coupled the world of business with the art, technology, and management of the performative arts sector.
Michael was well received at Emerson. He generated interest and excitement in the prospects of the program as he conducted an assessment of existing undergraduate programs in the fine and performing arts. The undergraduate programs were considered feeder schools to the graduate school pool.
In sewing the seeds and establishing credible strategic allies to leverage a variety of assets, Michael linked the Emerson MBA-AMA with Suffolk University (which at the times known for its progressive Management Program and began the mapping of a consortia approach.
Michael is an independent, out-of-the-box thinker -- a futurist -- always seeking new truth. He was particularly effective in facilitating diverse groups. He is also collegiate and a team player who is at his best as an architect of educational process and a coach."
